Postgraduate
Short
Course Scheme (Occasional Student Scheme)
As
well as MSc, Postgraduate Diploma, and Postgraduate Certificate registration
with the University of London, it is also possible to register for short
courses of the University of London to undertake one or more individual
modules for professional update purposes. Short Course students receive
the full package of study materials and access to the On-line Learning
Environment. On satisfactory completion of the module(s) (including
examination) they receive a certificate.
The
Short Course Scheme caters for three categories of students:
Category
I
those
wishing to take an individual module or modules on a one-off basis for
reasons of professional updating and/or special interest. They may select
any of the modules available.
Category
II
those
wishing to sample the course before deciding whether to apply for MSc
or Postgraduate Diploma registration. These students are advised to
choose from the list of core modules.
Category
III
those
required to take one module initially in order to qualify for consideration
for entry to the Postgraduate Diploma. These students must select from
the list of core modules.
The
Short Course Scheme aims to provide access to postgraduate level courses
to as wide a group of students as possible.
Entry
to the scheme is at the discretion of the Distance Learning Programme.
Each application is assessed on merit. The Short Course Scheme application
form is at the back of this guide.
Short
Course students who are subsequently registered for either the MSc or
Postgraduate Diploma will be credited with any courses completed successfully
as Short Course students. Short
course fees in 2007 are £885 per module.
